Leadership is not meant to be flaunted like a trophy. It is a privilege that must be earned and an opportunity to accept new challenge that only a select few are ambitious enough to fulfill. When I accepted my roles in leadership, I had proven to my superiors that I am qualified and more than capable of taking their team to the next level. And this is what I intend to do. This is what I desire to accomplish.
As leaders we should be empathetic. We have already crawled through the trenches. We have already proven ourself, so we have some idea about what everyone else might be experiencing. But we really have no reason to place ourselves above others or to compete unfairly. Instead, our goal should include helping others work towards their goals so that we can all achieve successes together and so that we can eventually replace our position in exchange for new opportunities. Of course, this is easier said than done. We will be thrown under the bus and fed to the lions. We will be responsible for others' faults and we will be blamed for utter nonsense. We won't have time to complete our own tasks and we will be left with little time for ourself. But do not take it personally. This is all part of the game. In the end, we still achieve what others cannot. It is in our nature. We are a special breed. We tolerate pain. We approach it head on and fight through it. Success is what we desire. It is part of the reward for all of our blood sweat and tears. Regardless of whether or not we are fairly compensated by an employer. And whether or not we are fairly rewarded for our successes. Success is programmed into our brain.
Do not despair. There is a pot of gold waiting for us at the end of this long, dark tunnel. We will be rewarded handsomely by someone who values our talent.
