A Project Idea

Posted on Aug 11, 2021

Admittedly I'm not the biggest fan of cryptocurrencies. Primarily because they have evolved far from their original purpose and I believe that we are simply taking advantage of them right now. Anyway, my intention for blogging today is not to bash on cryptocurrencies. I'll write more about my take on cryptocurrencies at another time.

Despite my views on crytocurrencies, I do appreciate blockchain technology and the idea that anyone can own a piece of a project, product or business based on their contributions and without having to be an employee, partner, chairman, etc. So, why not build a distributed data network that anyone can contribute to and access? A network on which we can submit information such as data, code, charts, graphs, reports, etc. and openly share information about various subjects. For the people, by the people. Blockchain could help track contributions and transactions, possibly without the need for wallets. I don't really like the idea of cryptocurrencies but maybe "coins" could be used to represent ownership or investment in the project. Perhaps this is what cryptocurrencies are and the valuations and trading behavior simply don't make sense to me.

I obviously have a long way to go but I figured that I should document this for various reasons. If you happen to have anything that you would like to share about the subject, please feel free to reach out. More info will follow if the project materializes into something meaningful.
